Teen Patti Hand Ranks

Teen Patti, also known as Flash, is a gambling card game.  It originated in India and continues to be popular throughout South Asia.  The aim of the game is to make the best hand from three cards.  Players also attempt to maximise the pot during betting rounds before they ‘showdown’ their hand.  The higher hand category always defeats a lower hand.

‘No Pair’ or ‘High Card’ is the lowest rank.  The next highest card is used when both players share a common high card to determine a winner.  ‘Pair’ or ‘Double’ is two cards of identical rank.  When two players each hold a pair of the same value, the ‘kicker’ card is used to determine a winner.  For example, A-A-K would defeat A-A-J.

‘Three of a Kind’ or ‘Trio’ is a hand consisting of three cards of the same sequential rank.  Three Aces is the highest possible hand in this instance, with three twos the lowest.  A ‘Straight’ is made of up three consecutive cards which do not share the same suit.  This can also be called a ‘Sequence,’ ‘Trail’, or ‘Round’, depending on the game being played.  Two players holding the same combination split the pot.

A ‘Straight Flush’ is a hand made up of three cards in sequential rank of the same suit.  This can also be called a ‘Pure Sequence,’ ‘Pure Trail’, and ‘Pakki Round’.  A-K-Q is the highest straight flush with 4-3-2 being the lowest.  The pot is split when two players table the same combinations.
