Poker is a game aged just short of 200 years old and as a result of this, many other casino games have been derived from it. Each of the variants of poker can be divided into three main categories.
Drawer Poker
Draw poker involves games in which players are dealt hidden hands. The players then try to improve their hands by replacing cards. Five-card draw is the most common form of drawer poker.
Stud Poker
Stud poker includes games in which players receive a combination of cards, facing up and down, over several rounds. Five-card stud and seven-card stud are the most commonly played stud poker games.
Community Card Poker
Community card poker includes games in which each player’s hidden hand is combined with shared cards that are facing up. Texas hold’em and Omaha hold ‘em are popular examples of community card poker games.
These games are the most popular variants of this immensely popular card game. Poker has been around for quite a while so sufficient time has passed to allow a huge amount of derivatives to spring up.
